Pictures worth 1000 words-Sally Mann
My show and tell was about a photographer's family, too. Sally Mann is a famous photographer, who gained most of her noteriety because of her family shots. She has been chastised many times, and questioned about the morality of her photos. She is also seen as a fine artist.
Her and her family's response is that they were comfortable and free to express themselves when the children were young. They could wear clothes, or not. They did not feel compromised. When Aperture (the mag) asked to publish this series, Jessie Mann's response was "go ahead, show them."
Jessie Mann is Sally's middle child. The images that you see are mostly of her, as she was the subject of the interview. The series shots are called "Immediate Family." This can be found in issue no. 162 of Aperture.
